![]() ![]() When I pulled them off they sat in the shop until I reconfigured them and stuck them under the truck. In hind site, they are not that hard to install and I spent $100 to build and install mine myself. Both of us trying to run a business and talking on the phone to clients was aggravating to say the least. He also has a quad cab, so his drone without the muffler was much less than my single cab, but still sucked. I rode in it without the muffler and with, tremendous difference. He ended up spending the money to get a muffler type thing and it helped a bunch. Deleted the muffler and within a week was calling on phone saying, "oh dear god". I have a friend who did a 6" single on his. Yes, they sounded awesome! Turn the truck off and listen to the turbo spool down, just to cool. Back window would vibrate when pullin a hill loaded, thought it would shatter at any minute! In my experience getting them off the truck was great. After several hills was digging the ear plugs out from behind the seat to ease their pain. Put about 6k behind the truck on a trailer and headed out with the kids. Spend a butt load of money on a muffler that cannot gaurantee to ease your suffering.voted no on spending the cash for the muffler. The drone in the single cab was absolutely horrible. kinda a whirling whooshing sound, the little honda's dont like hearing the stacks blabbering, when Im Jaking down a hill ridig their a$$ By the way, it does sound pretty cool in the cold morning when the Jake is on warming up. havent hit it yet, with all the cow pastures Iv been through. as for the myth of not being able to haul a goose or 5th, look closely at my pic, the stacks are next to the bed front, and there is a 45 gal vertical fuel tank, with built in tool box that comes to my wheel wells. This is a defiant improvement over the strait pipe that was under the cab, as it echo'd up into the cab and was excrutiating. I will probly lay sound deadner on the fire wall in the summer, and seal up any noisy spots. Personally, the noise is now tolorable, and the engine smooths out nicely at 2200RPM, making it enjoyable. I have 5 layers of "peel & Seal" on the floor/firewall, and a layer of Jute sound deadner on the floor, interior door panels, and back wall of the cab, (crew cab, thus alot of room for echo). I just recently went cross country, hauling a 10,000lbs goose, and the noise was amplified by the increased effort on the engine. ![]() I do holler or talk louder if someone is riding with me. I have Iowa 80 5" press in mufflers in the stacks,(I think Dynaflow makes them) they have a 3" straight through pipe as to not hinder flow. My truck, is Olive drab Green, and yes there is alot of soot spittle on the back corners of the roof. Mine is a loud SOB, got 3.5 out of the turbo, into 4" straight to the elbow into the bed, then 5" black stacks, straight cut with flappers. ![]()
